We are all going to be watching at least some portion of the Super Bowl, maybe you're like me {I'm in for the fun commercials!} while my hubby is in for the whole thing lol {that's commitment} and of course we all want to see this year's half time with Madonna!

The Big Bang Theory Cake and Cookies!

Hello sweets!

Do you know someone that loves The Big Bang Theory?..I do! my dear father in law just loves it :)

And really, who can resist Sheldon lovely awkwardness!! LOL

Anyways...this past weekend we had a dinner to celebrate my father in law's RETIREMENT!!

I seriously do not know anyone more deserving of a sweet break, he's so kind and always helping everyone...one of those guys that puts everyone before himself!

So I wanted to make him something to celebrate hi retirement and since he never wants me to work "extra" for him lol...I made a little reseacrh and that's when I found out he's a big fan of The Big Bang Theory guys!...so cake and cookies it was ;)

I made a retro TV cake...duh! we all know retired people become TV junkies lol!

{Vegan} Vanilla Cupcakes

Hello everyone!

As promised...here's the delicious Vegan Vanilla Cupcake recipe I tried from All Recipes

The recipe was really easy to follow and they came out moist and looking gorgeous!!

The frosting I made was using VEGAN butter...I didn't know there was such thing until I started researching about it, it has a different color and texture but works just as well :)

{I will added at the end of the post for you to try}

Ingredients

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 cups almond milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup coconut oil, warmed until liquid
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease two 12 cup muffin pans or line with 18 paper baking cups.
Measure the apple cider vinegar into a 2 cup measuring cup. Fill with almond milk to make 1 1/2 cups. Let stand until curdled, about 5 minutes. In a large bowl, Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond milk mixture, coconut oil and vanilla. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until blended. Spoon the batter into the prepared cups, dividing evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven until the tops spring back when lightly pressed, 15 to 20 minutes. Cool in the pan set over a wire rack. When cool, arrange the cupcakes on a serving platter. Frost with desired frosting.

Frosting

1 bottle of Earth Balance vegan butter (found at Trader's Joe)

2 cups of powder sugar

1/4 cup of vanilla flavored soy milk

1 tbsp organic vanilla extract

Gluten Free Cupcakes

Hello! How was your Halloween weekend?! hope it was full of yummy sweets...here at FunFavors we took a mini break and had an awesome time at my brother in law's wedding!!!

We still recovering lol but it was worth it! we had a great time with all of their friends and family and got to see lots of cool costumes ;D

It was a Halloween/Dia de los Muertos inspired wedding

We just want to say Congratulations to Alison and Adam...

And now the sweet part I promised you a few weeks ago...

Gluten Free Cupcakes Recipe!

{I made these cupcakes with skulls for some of their guests, I will be sharing a Vegan cupcake recipe with you soon}

The decorations

I used a skull mold and melted Wilton vanilla candy melts...they're easy to use and they are Gluten FREE!!... covered the cupcakes with the same chocolate candy melts and topped with the skulls

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups white rice flour
3/4 cup tapioca flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon xanthan gum
4 eggs
1 1/4 cups white sugar
2/3 cup mayonnaise
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons gluten-free vanilla extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and rice flour two 8 or 9 inch round cake pans.
Mix the white rice flour, tapioca flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and xanthan gum together and set aside.
Mix the eggs, sugar, and mayonnaise until fluffy. Add the flour mixture, milk and vanilla and mix well. Spread batter into the prepared pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 minutes. Cakes are done when they spring back when lightly touched or when a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Let cool completely then frost, if desired.

Sprinkles!!

Why are Sprinkles so stinky cute and yummy?! I have no idea, I just love them...Are you one of those people who will not eat a cupcake or an ice cream unless they're covered with some type of yummy sprinkles?!

{my hubby def is! and I must confess I'm getting there lol}

What's even more fun is that now you can find them in an array of fun themes and lots colors...they just make your sweets even more special!

DIY: Candy Corn Cake

Candy Corn is a Halloween classic, so it is a no brainer to make a Candy Corn inspired cake for your Spooky Party!!

It's really easy, you can make it the day before your party!

You will need:

2 Vanilla Cake rounds (I used 8" cake pans)

4 cups of vanilla buttercream

Food coloring gels (orange, yellow and black)

1 cake stand

Wax paper

Small spatula (if you don't have one, you can use a butter knife)

Scissors

Pastry bags or zipploc bags

Hands on:

1. Place one of the 8" round cake on your cake stand and topped with buttercream (this will be the filling of the cake).

2. Place the second 8" round cake on top of your iced cake to form a 4"-5" high cake.

3. Place your cake on the fridge for about 30 minutes (if it stays longer than that is ok! you're doing this so your cake gets firm and ready to be frosted.

4. In the meantime color one cupcake of buttercream frosting with yellow, another one with orange and a third one with black gels.

5. Fill your pastry bags with the buttercreams. You will have 1 bag with yellow buttercream, and the other two with orange and black respectively.

6. Bring your cake out of the fridge. Covere completely with white vanilla frosting.

7. Cut a wax strip and cover the top of your cake around, leaving a 1.5" to frost with yellow icing (as shown on pic)

8. Now you can cover the bottom of your cake with yellow icing and smoothly do it so all around your cake.

9. Remove wax paper after step 8 and repeat with the orange icing.

10. You will have a cake with yellow, orange and white stripes. To smooth your edges and have a clean cake use your spatula and a damp napkin and go around your cake as needed, cleaning your spatula each time to remove excess icing.

11. Now the fun part, use your pastry bag filled with black icing (cut a small part of the tip or you can use a pastry tip #2or3 will do). Trace lines form one edge to the other to form a spider web.

12. Once your spider web is done...add a spooky spider with your black icing and add a border to your cake too!!

Halloween Costumes

Halloween is only 3 and a half weeks away!! I'm so excited because my hubby and I just found the silliest costumes eveeer! I can't wait to show :D

Her theme was "Sprinkled with Love" in baby blue and red with a few accents of color. So what did the favors look like you may wonder?! check the pics... She picked baby blue covered cupcakes in a mason jar and sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles! of course...

Fiesta!!

This weekend I had a mini Fiesta party to celebrate Mexican Independence Day! and of course...I made some yummy cupcakes and sweets, pull together a quick table setting and enjoy ground turkey nachos with my family :) it was so much fun!!

If you're thinking of a Mexican♥Fiesta party on your future...here a few tips for you to make it special...

Add lots of color! I used circular fans as part of my dessert table background that I found at my local party store.

I made Margaritas cupcakes! and added a mini

sugar cookie in a lime shape ;)

Also embellished them with one of my cake banners.

Dance, Smile and Celebrate!

Everyone's favorite was this mini pinata cookie that was actually hanging at this dessert table! ready to go :D inspired on the real pinata I bought to decorate this table!

This pinata donkey is so sweet!, but you can use just about any pinata...I picked this one because I love the colors on it and I went from there to decorate this table.

For our dinner table I when with brown craft paper I had from previous projects and use blue thick card stock as place settings...made them prettier with a paper puncher from Martha Stewart's line and they came up with a "papel picado" look which fit perfect on my Fiesta!

I added lots of matching color ribbons to our playful glasses and they became part of the decor instantly ;)

My table centerpiece was a metal bucket that I filled up with green paper shreds a "Viva Mexico" banner and a Mexican flag, place on top of a Mexico theme book.

Thursday Party: Old Hollywood Backyard Movie Night

Do you love movies? Me too!! So this party really makes my heart go back to the place I grew up ;) ... I'm such a movie junkie and so are my friends...to the point that we used to go on Premier night and on 2x1 day as well!! All of us always together on our twice a week rituals: dinner, movies and then chi-chat about it!! def the best times a single girl could have...but then we all grew up, moved out and got married!! you know how it works right!? :D

You know I always give you wedding inspiration on Fridays...but what about one of the most fun parties right before the wedding!? {why have I been neglecting this?...I have no idea! lol}

I'm obsessed with Andersruff 's fun photo shoot inspired by Bridesmaids the movie!...{I actually went to see this movie with my Bridesmaid ;) how sweet is that!, and she was wonderful, since she promised me that none of that will be happening to us or at my wedding lol}

The great catch here..is that you will be able to throw a bachelorette party just like the one by the girls at Andersruff because all of their pretty eye candy decor is included in the DVD set coming up on Sept....so you def have no excuse to give your Bride a fun and chic night in ;) {Love it! It's genius, right?}

DIY: Scissors Cookies {Crafting at School Party}

The first days of school are here again...so have a Crafting at School party for your kids {nephews or even a block party!}

Activity: Have everyone decorate their "Back to School" theme cookies.

Set a small table and chairs, assign a decorating station for all of your guests!

You will need:

1 set of "Back to School" theme cookies {2 or 3 per guest}

Royal icing in pastry bags, in 4-5 different colors

Sprinkles, sugar crystals

And since you can't have a Crafty Party without scissors...you must have a few of these cute Scissors shaped cookies!

Here's how you can make your own:

You will need these cookie cutters:

Cut your cookie dough with each of the cookie cutters. Then cut each cookie shape into half and pull them together to form a Scissors shape cookie (as shown on pic)

Bake your cookies for 10 minutes. Have them ready for your little guests to decorate them :)

Teach them hoe to outline the scissors shape following the simple steps on the pictures!

The final touch... add a cute sprinkle or heart on top of the scissors and they will be ready to cut!

Beach Party Pull Apart Cake

Love putting together this fun pull apart cake...for those of you that are not familiar with it, a pull apart cake is actually a flat surface covered with lots of cupcakes to form something like this!

This Beach theme pull apart cake holds 72 cupcakes

{vanilla, vanilla chocolate chips, cinnamon and blueberry with vanilla, chocolate and cream cheese frosting}

And here's how it looked at the party!!

We added lots of brown sugar, beach themed cookies and

the pretty flower garland

Party hosted at WindowsOnTheWater, Sea Bright, NJ

We also added a personal cake for the Birthday Girl

We loved being part of this Surprise 13th Birthday party for sweet Lauren!

DYI: Apple Marshmallow Pops

Send your kids away to school with these pretty treats!

These apple marshmallow pops are sure to make everyone smile ;)

You need:

10 lollipop sticks

1 bag of red candy melts (white chocolate)

green colored fondant

mini pretzels

marshmallows

red sugar crystals

What to do:

1. Insert a lollipop stick into the marshmallow {to make lollipops}

2. Make mini green leafs using the green fondant. Make 10 tiny bowls (about 1/4 inc each), then roll each of them with the same lollipop stick and mold into a leaf shape with your own hands. Trace a leaf pattern with a toothpick.

3. Cut the mini pretzels into tiny sticks

4. Place the candy melts into a microwave safe bowl and melt for 1minute or less. Cover each marshmallow pop with the melted candy melt. Immediately coat it with red sugar crystals.

5. Add a pretzel stick and a mini leaf on top with a little pressure to make sure they are touching the melting chocolate that will help them stay in place. Set aside on a wax paper for about 20 minutes.

So cute...I feel like trying this in apple green next time :D

School is about to start again!!

One of my friends is going back to school again {this time as a pre-K teacher!} and to celebrate with her, we decided to have a mini school party ;)

Take a look...

The best thing about school is all the memories you make...

I'm still friends when a bunch of people I went to school with and we love remembering those days...and thanks to FB I get to hear from them more often even thought we're far away :(

When I was a little girl I couldn't wait to see my friends again and to start using my new notebooks and pencils...specially if they where glittery ;)

Then I became a language teacher and besides getting to know my students, my favorite part was decorating my classroom for the new school year!

Hope these sweets brought you back some nice memories ;)

Birthday Cake {Phillies, Eagles & Mustang Cars}

This was my first cake made for a sports loving guy!!...I was so excited because I usually make cakes for kids under 5...so this was a bit of a challenge... although cakes are fun and playful I wanted this cake to match his personality and also have a little bit of a grown up feel...after all it was for a 31 year old!!

I was told that the bday boy wanted a brownie cake with vanilla buttercream... and that he loves the Phillies, Eagles and Mustangs...

And this is what I came out with:

I made a mini silver mustang out of fondant, built in a hill out of brownie and created a scene for him to go on a nice Phillies game night {since it's baseball season}...covered the brownie in vanilla buttercream grass and set a few billboards here and there made out of sugar cookies and edible images... I had a lot of fun putting it together and I hope Matt and his wife enjoyed it!
